HEATING ISSUES FIGURED OUT AS ARNOLD TAKES 2ND AT BORGER'S

July 9, 2011 -  After having some overheating issues in the beginning, we seem to have found and solved the problem. On Saturday night, 7/9, Brad had to really push the car hard during the feature. With two 600 mod's starting in front of him, he knew he had to get a good start. After taking the lead on lap 1, he had to hold off the #119 of Washburn. Brad was able to hold him off until lap 8. For the next 10 laps, Brad was holding onto a firm 2nd place. But with two laps to go, the 600 mod of the #9 Hitzler was knocking on Brad's bumper, rear panel and door...lol  At the finish, it was Brad by a bumper taking the 2nd place finish. Great door to door racing with the #9 and Brad. It was so great to see a 600 mod and S1 go at it like that. We have seen many times this racing season how well the 600 mod's and the S's race door to door without touching. Yet, when it's just 600 mod's, they can't seem to get a lap in without wrecking each other.

ARNOLD RACES FROM 16TH TO 4TH IN SMITH'S BACK UP CAR AT BORGER'S

July 2, 2011 - Once again having overheating problems in the heat, Ritchie and Joel Smith offered their backup car #14 to Brad to drive in the feature. With a good car count of 16, with 600 mod's and S1's, we didn't want to see Brad not race in the feature. Brad had to start 16th since he was not qualified in the car. We were keeping our fingers crossed that there wouldn't be any damage done, since it wasn't our car. After giving the crew some minor heart attacks with the moves he was making in the turns, Brad was able to pull off a 4th place finish. After the race, one of the biggest compliments Brad received from a veteran racer was "The cream always rises to the top."

ARNOLD SPENDS AT DAY AT POCONO BEHIND THE DODGE #9

June 29, 2011 - Finally Brad was able to use his Christmas gift. With family in tow, Mom, Dad, Papa, Uncle Tom, Aunt Rose and Brad's friend Matt, we arrived at Pocono Speedway at 7:30am. After Brad was in class for about an hour, it was time for him to wait for his car assignment. Much to his Papa's happiness, Brad was assigned the Dodge #9. It was so fun to see Brad going 180 mph. Coming out of turn 4, Brad would be right on the bumper of the instructor. I guess he was trying to bump draft the instructor to go faster...lol For 8 laps, Brad would be right on that bumper. When Brad got out of the car, he couldn't help but smile. He said it didn't feel like he was going that fast, and wanted to go faster. He was thinking about passing the instructor on the last lap. Quote from Brad, "What were they gonna do, kick me out. It was the last lap anyway." We had a great time!!

GRADUATION IN THE MORNING / STAGE 1 WIN IN THE EVENING FOR ARNOLD

June 11, 2011 - What a big day for Brad. We had graduation ceremonies in the morning. Still can not believe that he is graduated from high school. Just seems like yesterday, he was racing his quarter midget. Brad would start third in the feature. After running second, he was able to catch the #95 of Anthony Schlosser-White. For four laps, Brad and Anthony would run side by side, never touching each other. With a caution coming out with one lap to go, Brad was able to get the jump on the restart from the outside and take the lead. At the finish, Brad was able to keep the lead. Our first victory lane in the S1.

BAR RACING SELLS SLINGSHOT / TOTAL FOCUS IS ON STAGE 1 MODIFIED RACING

May 16th, 2011 - We made the decision and sold the slingshot and bought our own Stage One Modified. After careful considerations, we felt it would be best for Brad and the crew to move on to a faster car class. The Stage One, or S1, is more like a modified than the slingshot. After talking and getting some expert opinions, and based on our budget at the moment, we felt the S1 was a better built, safer car than the 600 mod's. The 5 years we were with the slingshot gave Brad great driving experience. But with Brad getting older, can't believe he is 18 years old, he felt that he needed to move up to a different car. The way the S1 drives, is a lot like a modified. And since that is Brad's ultimate goal, we felt this was one step closer.

BRAD ARNOLD EARNS THE K & S RACING / U.S.S. ACHEY STAGE 1 MODIFIED RIDE FOR 2011

October 31st, 2010,  Press Release - K & S Racing / USS Achey are pleased to announce that All-Star Slingshot by Tobias racer Brad Arnold will be driving their Stage One Modified full time during the upcoming 2011 racing season. K & S Racing/USS Achey are very pleased with Brad's performance, and looking forward to a successful 2011 season. The series runs on Saturday nights at Borger's Speedway in Saylorsburg, PA. The team will also be running at Thunder Mountain, Wyalusing, Greenwood Valley, Dunn Hill, West End Nationals, along with some new tracks. Brad will also be racing the Blake Tobias Motorsports Slingshot in 2011 at Kutztown Speedway, Linda's Speedway and the All-Star National races.  Brad Arnold Racing will also be traveling to Ft. Wayne, Indiana for the Rumble Series this New Year's Eve. The Team will be traveling and competing in the Atlantic City Herr's Snack Bowl 25, in February.

Brad started racing Quarter Midgets in 2000 when he was 8 years old, and after just 2 months he won the Region II State Championship. By the end of the 2000 season Arnold finished with 5 wins, 15 top 10's, and qualified for the Eastern Grand Nationals. In 2001 Brad collected 6 more feature wins, 4 second place finishes, and 2 third place finishes. Brad also went on to collect the 2001 Jr. Honda Track Championship. Like most young boys Brad attention shifted away from racing after 2001, but like most who are bitten by the racing bug know, racing just never leaves your blood, and by late 2006 Brad was looking to make a comeback.

The family decided to travel to Atlantic City to see what the All-Star Slingshot by Tobias race series was all about. Watching the fast paced action on the small bull ring concrete track that was set up in the Convention center, Arnold knew right then and there this was the class he was looking for to make his return. In fact, Rich Tobias, who is the creator of the Slingshot Chassis had a brand new 2007 Slingshot Chassis on display as part of the Motorsports Weekend Show. Brad eyed the sleek black bodied racer with no lettering on it and the rest is history, as the Arnold's took the for sale sign off of the car and put the sold sign on. In 2007 Brad didn't post a feature win, but what he did do is turned many heads, and turned them in his direction, which is a very good thing. Arnold would finish his Rookie Slingshot season by finishing 10th in the season ending points battle at Linda's Speedway, where along with races that he ran at other tracks he put together 3 top 5 feature finishes, and 5 top 10 feature finishes. Brad also was nominated for Linda's Speedway Rookie of the year, and he was also nominated by Speedway Entertainment as the 2007 National Slingshot Rising Star Award.

It was in 2007 that Traci Arnold, who is Brad's Mother, contacted Blake Tobias, who was hired to build a website for Brad. Week after week Tobias kept a watch over how Arnold was making out in his Rookie comeback, and by the end of season Blake contacted Traci to let her know that he would become a full time sponsor for Brad in 2008 because of how much impressed he was with how well things had gone for Brad in his Rookie season. 2008 came and so did Brad's first feature win, it happened at Linda's Speedway on July 25th, and everyone knew it was just the start of great things to come. In 2009 Brad posted win #2, once again on the ultra fast 1/4 mile at Linda's Speedway, but he wasn't finished winning just yet. On October 9th, Brad won the biggest All-Star Slingshot race of the 2009 season, by beating the best of the best at Linda's Speedway, on his way to capture the All-Star National, Keystone 50 lap feature checkered. The race not only gave him a beautiful trophy for his collection, it more importantly loaded his pockets with a cool $1,000.00 pay check.

On April 3rd, 2010, Brad came back to Linda's Speedway and picked up just where he left off in October, as he snagged the checkered flag on the lid lifting season opener. Brad posted his first win at The Kutztown Fairgrounds on Wednesday, July 28th, and once again came up big in late September, as the Team traveled to Penn Can Speedway to be a part of the first time the All-Star Slingshots would race on the "Modified Speedway". Arnold went out and picked off his 3rd win of the 2010 season at Penn Can, which was also a All-Star Empire Region Slingshot event. His name is now forever etched in the Penn Can record books by being the first All-Star Slingshot driver to post a feature win at the Speedway. The 2010 Season is almost over for Brad, and he has comprised the following highly impressive stats: 3 Feature wins, 13 top 3 Feature finishes, 26 top 5 Feature finishes, and 34 top 10 Feature finishes. Two of those top 10 finishes came behind th wheel of the K & S Racing / USS Achey Stage 1 Modified, where Brad finished 6th in both Features he raced in at Borger's Speedway.

Additional information about "BAR", Brad Arnold Racing can be found by visiting the Team's Website at: www.BradArnoldRacing.com . Each week you can find out how Brad has made out with both his Slingshot racing, as well as his Stage 1 Modified racing for Team K & S Racing / USS Achey, all on the same website. Brad looks forward to seeing all his fans once again in 2011 at the local tracks, and making new fans along the way at some new race tracks.

PENN CAN  SPEEDWAY (Small Car Nationals)

September 5th, 2010,  Penn Can Speedway - Well we made the 3 hour trek up to Susquehanna, PA to Penn Can Speedway.  Very nice and big modified track. This was the first Small Car Classic for the speedway.  Brad would draw for starting position in the heats.  Of course he drew a high number and started 7th in the first heat.  Brad had some strategy figured out since the track is so wide and so big, he knew it would get to be follow the leader.  On the first lap coming out of turn 2 Brad kept the car on the inside. Between turns 3 and 4, Brad was already up to third position.  For the remaining 5 laps, it would be single file.  With finishing 3rd, Brad would redraw for the feature.  Luck was on his side this time as he drew the 2nd starting spot.  Shannon Smith would start on the pole.  With the drop of the green, Brad would slid in behind Shannon to get the inside groove.  With a caution,  Brad would start beside Shannon, but not be able to pass her.  During the 2nd caution, Brad got a good start and got in front of Shannon on the restart at lap 8.  With 12 laps to go, Brad was able to hold her off.  Shannon tried her best to get Brad coming out of the turns, but Brad was able to pull away.  What a great finish for Brad!!!!   We are so very proud of his driving abilities.  He has done such a phenomenal job this year with car setup.  Brad has made all the calls on what changes he wants on the car.

Brad Arnold Racing congratulates Mike Glass and the Nicholas Powder Coating team on their first point championship at Kutztown Fairgrounds Speedway.

LINDA'S SPEEDWAY

June 18th, 2010:  Well, we were hoping to get some redemption from all the drama Wednesday night at Kutztown.  With Brad being tied for 3rd in points and only 5 points behind 2nd place, we knew that he would be starting in the back of the heat.  In the 2nd heat, Brad started in the 6th position.  With the drop of the green, Brad made an awesome move down the middle making it 3 wide.  He was able to hold his position in 3rd.  With 5 laps to go, Brad made the pass and held the spot to finish the heat in 2nd.  With the top 3 in each heat getting the handicap, we knew again that Brad would be starting 5th or 6th for the feature.  And of course we were right.  Brad started the feature in 5th spot.  The outside grove was the fast grove on the dirt oval.  At the drop of the green, once again Brad went to make the move down the middle.  But the 4th place car didn't want any of that, and he and Brad ended up getting too high coming out of turn 4.  Brad ended up back in 11th spot.  Brad new exactly where his car ran the fastest on the track and didn't take long to get moving.  Running on the outside, Brad started passing one car after the other on the outside.  Brad worked his way to the 5th spot, but had a battle on his hands with the #22 Thompson.  They raced side by side for two laps, with Thompson on the inside and Brad on the outside.  With two laps to go, Brad was able to get a great run coming off of turn 4 and take the 5th spot.  Another top 5 finish for BAR.  Very nice mention of Brad on last week's Mike Page on Linda's website.  Brad is a top 5 contender each week and is the driver to watch for the point championship.  Let's keep our fingers crossed!

KUTZTOWN FAIRGROUNDS

June 16th, 2010:  With the threat of rain, we were hoping to get the races in.  Brad finally pulled a good number and would start on the pole in the 2nd heat.  At the drop of the green, Brad got a little loose in turn 2.  With the help of the 3rd place car, Brad was spun into the infield.  He had his front tires on the track when the car stopped.  The flagman, with his infinite wisdom, did not throw the yellow flag.  Brad got the car started and went on the track, to draw the yellow.  Since the flagman did not throw the yellow until the cars crossed the start/finish line, Brad was scored a lap down.  Consequently, he was black flagged and told to get off the track.  Needless to say, Brad and the crew were not happy.  During intermission, Brad and his dad went to the flagman to find out why the yellow wasn't thrown right away and why a call wasn't made on the car that spun him out.  The flagman said he did not see the spinout and he felt that Brad was far enough off the track not to throw the yellow.  Now we understand that there was a threat of rain, but really.  It really isn't fair to alter the outcome of a race based on "rain threat".  Brad would start last in the feature.  He was running good, and worked his way up to 10th position.  On the last lap, went to make the pass for 9th spot.  But the 9th place car came down on Brad coming out of turn 4 and they both spun out.  Ended up finishing 16th.  Not a good night for BAR.  On a side note:  We would like to thank all the race teams (Slingshots, 270's and 600's) that came to us with their support on the bad deal that Brad got during the heat.  It means a great deal that Brad has so many supporters.

SHELLHAMMER'S SPEEDWAY (April 10th)

April 10th, 2010:  What a difference a day makes!  After freezing and getting wind burn the night before at Linda's, Saturday was beautiful at Shellhammer's.  Got up early and changed the motor.  12 slingshots were on hand to race for the 2nd weekend at Shellhammer's.  Since Brad won the week before, he would start in last place, 6th spot, in the first heat.  With only one lap in, Brad dove down on the inside of turn one and took the 3rd position.  Everyone stayed pretty much in single file.  Brad knew he would have the inside starting spot 5th for the feature.  Starting on the inside is where you want to be at Shellhammer's.   With the 4th position car not being able to make the call, Brad would slide up and start on the outside for the feature.  In no time at all, he was able to get down on the inside and settle in 3rd spot.  With 5 laps to go, we could see that Brad was slowing down in the turns.  The 4th place driver was able to give Brad a little nudge coming out of turn 2, sending Brad up against the back straightaway wall.  Brad held the car and settled in the 4th spot.  Brad was trying everything he had to keep his 4th spot.  With the checkered flag waving, Brad came out of turn 4 with two cars right on his back bumper.  The car totally slowed but he was able to cross in front of them.   After being pushed back to the pit, we found that the rod had come off of the valve and broke a rocker.  Brad was racing on only one cylinder, but still held on for a 4th place finishing spot.  Once again, Brad has shown that his driving skill has improved tremendously.  Two nights in a row, he was able to hold onto a top 5 finish with damaged motors.  Now both our motors will be heading to the shop first thing Monday morning.  I hope that they will be able to at least repair one so we can race this coming weekend.

LINDA'S SPEEDWAY OPENING NIGHT 50 LAP FEATURE (April 9th)

April 9th, 2010:  BRRRRRR...was what everyone was saying Friday night at Linda's.  Cold temperatures and strong winds made for an interesting night.  21 slingshots signed up for the Slingshot opening race at Linda's.  Brad would, once again, draw a high number having him starting 6th in the first heat.  The track was in good shape, with the grove in the middle of the track.  Driving through the strong winds, Brad finished his heat in 4th position.   After the top 3 went over the scale, the winner was found to be light in weight.  This gave Brad a 3rd place finish and a chance to redraw for one of the top 9 starting spots for the feature.  Brad would start in the 5th position for the feature.  With some heavy hitters in the top 9, Brad knew he had to get in the groove to advance.  What a great show the Slingshots gave the fans.  With only 2 cautions, the Slingshots ran 44 straight green laps.  Great racing by everyone.  Even with lapped traffic, everyone raced clean.  Around lap 10, we saw something fly off in turn 3.  We found out after the race, that it was Brad's air cleaner that flew off.  Once again, Brad proved his driving ability by finishing a solid 4th without having an air cleaner.  With all the dirt in the motor slowing him down, we are worried about the inside of the motor.  Changing motors for tomorrow.

BRAD ARNOLD BRINGS THE BLAKE TOBIAS MOTORSPORTS #27 TO VICTORY LANE (April 3rd)

April 3rd, 2010:  With the beautiful weather we were hoping to see a great day of racing with a good car count at Shellhammer's Speedway.  13 slingshots made the trip and were ready to go.  For the majority, this was the first race of the season for their slingshot.  Brad would start 5th in the first heat.  In no time at all, he took the second spot and held on to finish 2nd.  This would have him starting 3rd for the feature.  The 25 lap feature was set to start and everyone was ready to go.  Within the first 5 laps, Brad was able to dive down on the inside of turn one and take the lead.  With a half of a lap lead, the caution came out and they had to line up.  Last year's track champion, Brett Bieber, was in second waiting for Brad to make an error.  Brad held his line and was able to hold off Bieber.  With 3 laps to go, Bieber would get down on the inside of Brad's back bumper coming out of turn 2, but Brad was able to pull away in the straight-aways and hold Bieber off.  With the checkered flag waving, Brad crossed the finish line first to take the win.  What an awesome way to start the season for Brad Arnold Racing.
